In the first of a five-part BreakfastClub series, we teamed up with Noosa Yoghurt in Washington, D.C. to inspire people everyday to ‘try something noo.’Guests braved a “hurricane” (read: drizzling rain) to enjoy a family-style meal at Maketto, recently named Restaurant of the Year by Eater DC. After caffeinating on Stumptown’s pour over coffee and noshing on yoghurt and pastries like cardamom pistachio morning buns, chef and owner Erik Bruner-Yang loaded the table with scallion pancakes, soymilk and Chinese doughnuts, pork steamed bao, leek buns and sticky rice sandwiches. Interwoven branches and two-toned leaves graced the center of the table, set with rust-dipped linens by Samantha Verrone and beautiful ceramics by Felt and Fat and Keith Kreeger. Each place setting included a watercolor-illustrated #DineAroundDC guide by the talented Jade Sheldon that shared the top five breakfast items to eat while in the District. Guests like Joy Elizabeth James from Mornings Like These and Edible DC happily snapped away photos of the moody, yet soft-lit morning tablescape.
